Tanah Airku...
Referring to my very first blog Ohana, we tried to make at least two family trips every year. This year, the only family trip we had is to Hokkaido during CNY. A lot of ding-dong here and there; application of visa, leaves and break time, best time of visits for the destinations etc etc… we ended up spending what I called the cheapest family trip! Hehe… We went to Kuantan to spend some quality family time in a beach resort off Cherating Beach. We woke up early at 7am and had a beautiful fun-filled 3.5 hrs drive down to Kuantan.
Upon arrival, hmm.. the resort wasn’t like what I expected. The room is alright (we checked-in to a family suite), the beach is hmm… not-so-blue. One of the first few things I asked upon checking-in is; what are the beach activities available? My heart sank when I was told the resort does not have any activities at all! *CRY* My sister and I decided to walk along the beach and we found a beach sports and activities shop and I was literally hopping my way there and even happier to see a dive sites map on the wall!!!! *HAPPY* “Helllooooo? Excuse me???” I did not get a reply. The shop is closed! *CRY CRY*
I walked around the outside of the shop and managed to find a phone number. I called up the guy and asked him about diving. Not possible, as he is on his way to Kuala Lumpur. *CRY CRY CRY* He gave me another guy’s number and told me that that guy can bring me out for a dive or two. I gave that guy a call, and YES he said he can bring my sister and me out for diving the following day. Happily preparing for diving the following day, and getting ready to sleep early, I received a call and the Dive Master said that weather is bad as wind is building up and visibility is not going to be great. So how? Dive is canceled! *Can’t CRY no more!*
Anyway, I am in a holiday and my life is not just limited to diving. That’s what a friend reminded me of. So I spent a lot of quality time with my family, we went for swimming in the beach, in the pool, in the SPA, ordering room service, watching CSI together and also watching filming of Olympic advertisements which happened to take place in the resort (the guys are pretty cute and the gals are HOT!).
Although we did not travel overseas for this family trip, it is always nice to be in your own home country (tanah airku) and it is definitely nice to visit Kuantan once again. After all, the most important thing is who I travel with, my Ohana… :)
